Introducing the Schlern Region

Introducing the Schlern Region
The sunny Schlern plateau lies surrounded by dazzling mountain peaks, wooded glens, and inviting alpine meadows. The variety and beauty of its landscape, art and traditions, as well as the character of its native inhabitants lend a special attraction to this part of South Tyrol. The Schlern and its surroundings can look back on more than 2000 years of fascinating history. There are traces of prehistoric settlements and irrigation systems, remains of Roman fortresses and Middle Age castles as well as buildings and family seats from the 17th and 18th centuries. The numerous churches, chapels, towers, old farm houses and way-side shrines give the Schlern region a special character and stimulate interest in the builders and inhabitants of the past in the natives as well as in our holiday guests.
